This is Ilha de Queimada Grande, nicknamed Snake Island, sitting off the coast of São Paulo in Brazil. It is home to just one species of snake, the extremely venomous Golden Lancehead Viper, and it's claimed that in some areas, there are as many as one snake per square metre. For many years, the only human on Snake Island was a lighthouse keeper, but the Brazilian Navy has since banned all civilians from ever visiting the island.
